Says so the legend

that this has happened....

One Christmas night

a monster roared with all its might.

And the people screamed with fright.

So they told the government

and the government said,

"Why didn't you get out of bed?

And you should have opened the door

and checked what it was

instead of screaming for us.

So be off with you

we have nothing to do."

But one little boy

had got up that night

to see what was the big fright.

He stepped on the floor

and opened the door.

He shone his torch

on the porch

to see what he could see.

He saw a monster as huge as can be.

The monster said, "Come here my boy!

You are like a little toy.

But you are very brave,

I shall take you to my cave.

I speak in a whisper so no one can hear

us sitting over here."

The boy said gladly, "I will come

because I don't have a dad or a mum.

But you don't eat me or

ever beat me."

The monster said, "I promise"

and he gave a little kiss.

And now they are as happy as can be

for one day this the monster told me.
