Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan is a festival in which the sisters have to tie a Rakhi or a kind of band on their brother’s hand, and the brothers have to promise them that they would always protect them when they were in danger. Then the brother would also give them some money and a gift.

Anita and Ram were very excited, because it was RAKSHA BANDHAN!!  They were both dressed up in new clothes and were ready for the festival. In the morning itself, Anita tied the Rakhi on Ram’s hand. Then, Ram gave her rupees thousand and a teddy bear and promised that he would always protect her.

                        6 YEARS LATER

Anita and Ram both were in college and they were studying hard for their tests. Every day was very busy for them and they hardly met because it was a hostel. But still every night they managed to call each other and find out how they were doing.

One day, when Ram called Anita, he told her that he and his friends were going for a 5 day outing and would she like to come. “It will be really fun!”  He added.
“Yeah! I would love to come but I have to get permission from my teacher first.” She said.
She got permission and started packing immediately.

On that day, Anita met Ram and his friends at the decided spot. When the taxi reached, they all piled in and went to the resort.
At the resort, Anita went to speak to Ram, but he was too busy with his friends and didn’t speak to her at all. Anita felt sad and later when all the friends had gone to their rooms she went to him. “Why did you ignore me that time?” She asked him.
“I was speaking to my friends. Couldn’t you see?” Asked Ram. “Now go back to your room.”
Anita was hurt and angry with Ram. They didn’t  speak to each other at all for a long time.

                   FEW MONTHS PASSED

One day, Anita was waiting for the bus at a bus stand. Ram was also there. They still were not speaking. Suddenly a few men came and started teasing Anita. Ram went to them and told them to stop.
Anita looked at him in surprise and said- “I thought you were not ever going to speak to me? How come you told those men to go?”
Then Ram said-“Why should I ever do that? It is my duty to protect you and after all I am your brother aren’t I?”

After that Ram and Anita never argued or fought again.

                       THE END

It's a sweet world!

It’s our world, it is so small,
It’s not too huge, it’s like a hall.
It’s very bright, it’s very nice,
And over here we don’t grow rice.
It is a dream, it is so sweet,
It is a wonder for your teeth.
It’s all candy, it’s all chocolate,
It’s so lovely, I can give a bet.
For all of you, who love sweet things,
It’s all candy, even the rings.
And do you know how we make money,
For all sweet things, yes even honey,
Make your teeth all rotten bad,
The pain will make you really sad.
Then where oh where oh do you go,
Yes it is, and don’t say no.
The dentist that’s where you will reach,
And then a lesson we will teach.
We’ll poke your mouth with all the tools,
And then maybe, you’ll follow the rules.
Then you will brush, twice a day,
And oh then later you will say,
‘Oh kids don’t do the things I did,
And to save you, the sweets I’ve hid.
Don’t wail like that, for you will see,
A set of teeth and you will be,
So very pleased that you have not,
Disobeyed the rules that I have taught.’
That’s what you’ll say, oh yes you will,
Think about it as your teeth we fill.
We send you to that lovely place,
And then we’ll tackle a strong case.
To get your teeth all nice and clean,
It’s a harder task than you have seen.
Oh yes, we make money from you,
But you also, have some fun too.
You eat some things, so lovely nice,
But you won’t come back in a trice.
And then we got some new kids,
From whom this secret we would have hid.
By,
Gayatri Allamsetty.
PS: Remember not to eat too many sweets!
